New Project Award: Riu Hotel, Vauxhall, London

This project award comprises some 1300m2 of GBAs Portland MSB, Honed finish, Grade 18 GRC Cladding GBA are employed by Colorminium.

Colorminium’s brief is to carry out the detailed design of the full envelope wrap, with responsibility for all façade elements. Working closely with the design team, particularly structural engineers, they will complete the design, running straight into procurement, fabrication and installation. Once the demolition is complete, surveys will be taken to inform the construction issue structural drawings which then releases the design to proceed rapidly, with the aluminium curtain walling being the primary façade scope. In solid areas, lightweight steel framing will be used as slab infills and to give a backing to the GRC and aluminium rainscreen. New Project Award: Crawley Town Hall

Having first developed the basic design and aesthetic principles for this project with Cartwright Pickard Architects back in 2018, GBA are pleased to confirm a 600k order award for the Grade 18 GRC design and supply works by A20 Facades. The Crawley Town Hall project award encompasses some 2000m2 of GBAs “City White Grade 18 GRC Cladding”.

The new nine-storey Crawley Town Hall, which will front onto The Boulevard and a new landscaped public square, will provide over 4,000sqm customer service and civic office space, including a new Civic Chamber for Crawley Borough Council, with five floors of flexible commercial office space above.

A mixed-use building will sit to the west and north sides of the public square with commercial space to the ground floor in addition to the new housing. Our scheme will create a distinctive, modern and flexible civic office building for the local community, achieve significant savings on the council’s current running costs and improve service delivery. The new facilities being built as part of the masterplan, will transform the town centre and enable the council to benefit from the ability to generate new revenue from commercial office tenants.

Project designs have already been completed and installation of the first units is imminent.
